Abstract

Chess match is done by moving notation, step by step in a notation form and stopping the chess clock while movement
is ended. Design of step notation recording device and stopping run time in chess match can display recording chess notation and
stop run time automatically from every player. The result of the output shows recorded players step notation and stopped run time
that have been done in computer using Delphi 7 software. Data is transfer wirelessly with ASK’s transmitter and receiver. The
display for first move is made for 30 minutes, but it also can be set manually. This step notation and chess clock recording system is
equipped with reed switch on every block of chess board to detect the presence of pawn on the block. For every move, there will be a
change on switch condition of source block and destination block. Buzzer will give a sound after a move is done, which indicates the
turn has changed. This design has weakness on detecting condition of check, draw, and checkmate ; so it needs to push button to
indicate the condition of check, draw, and checkmate.
