Abstract
Concept is something important in Javanese traditional house construction. This society still sticks to the
existing concept. It still admits that every room in Javanese traditional construction does contain a meaning and
every structure of the construction does, too. Javanese society still considers the facade, the face of the gate, the
yard width/broadness, the kinds of rooms that must exist, the existence of the floor height/highness difference in
certain rooms, how to fix the day to start building the house, the ceremony of building it, even to fix the best day
when to move into a new house. All those are counted and considered using the existing concept that has been
fixed.
