Abstract
Empty nest is a transition phase that occurred in middle-aged life. Empty nest is indicated by the leaving of the youngest child from home. This phase is inclined hard to deal by mothers who decided to live a traditional role at home, but easier to face by mothers that have a carrier. This research found that single mothers did not find any difficulties in facing the empty nest; instead they are proud on the way they have raised their children who finally live independently. This phase also causing empty nest syndrome but it is just a part of adjustment to a new situation, which is a free life without any task of being a parent, and this new free life causing the appearance of assertive behavior.
